Case Study:

Here you will find the following pictures. I do not have very detail. Nevertheless, it pays to understand enough to, "The Importance of execution of tasks in the safe OSHE way" and is self-explanatory.

The supervisor of the construction site, said who they are technical experts and the installation of this type of cranes for a long time and the Word he used was "No problem", but at the end of the day there was a fatality.

Just to highlight and caution us that to do the job more confidence because of their repetitive nature and our experience, monitoring the safety procedures can lead to undesirable results.

May you be an expert. Accidents are rare. Therefore, they are called are accidents.

Safety Alert

Near Misses - a simple explanation:

A near miss an unplanned event that did not in illness, injury or damage can result – but the potential is, had to do this. Only a lucky break in the Chain of events prevented an injury, death or damage. Although human error is often a triggering event, a faulty process or system always allowed, or to prejudice the connections.

For example,

  1. Potential risks and stumble fall down.
  2. Blocked / obstructed access or exit.
  3. Potential for Fire.
  4. Substandard work practices that cause harm to (Guards removed from tools, misuse / abuse of tools and equipment to bypass security facilities, substandard work environment, etc.).
  5. Defective tools or equipment,

The intension of Near Miss reporting, the emphasis is on improving rather than blaming.

As to report a near miss:

The easy way to a near miss report is an email to your organizations Safety Panel, copied to your immediate supervisor Send the names of the

  1. Date and time of the event.
  2. Short description of the event.
  3. The immediate cause of the event.
  4. Your prompt response or stimulation.

Closed Note for commitment OSHE for:

POME prescribing:

About morality:

ü Pride: Did you read the Japanese story about the janitor of his work are described as "a contribution to the progress of his country?" His logic – if the executives not to use a clean toilet, they could not be very productive, they could, too? This is the kind of pride, you must have in your work / project.

ü Keep your sense of humor: It helps – especially in situations where no one feels with a laugh. (Like the time a short executive on a chair, so that she was on eye level with her colleague and she was joked "Maybe we can now see eye to eye?" The laughter was that it facilitated the tension that everyone in the room had the feeling at that point.)

ü Have fun @ work: It is true that all work and no play makes Jack a dull b ec638dcoy. And fun, on the other hand, recharges your batteries and lets you approach working with a fresh mind.

ü Celebrations Services – including mini-Services: We celebrate each attraction will give your team something to look forward to, and can remind them that it is making steady progress at their destination – the project is completed!

u give praise: when a team member is a great thing, let them know! Make sure your praise sincere. Even your praise is valued only when it is given when it will be because of.

above help to self: When a team member / Family member has a mental block, you can personal instructions to demolish it. (Hint: Tackle such issues early on, because, a negative mood very contagious.)

If a copper pipe Exposed to an open flame to be sure?

For school, I need a DNA replica make creative. As a rather practical, I want a ring from a flattened section turn a copper tube (with Sections cut, compliments of a Dremel tool) is heated, and to achieve the look twisted, with the ends together soudered. I was on the achievement of planning, Twist said of [short] exposure led to an open flame, and turn it with gloved hands. Would this constitute a danger, or would be for me safe to breathe? I was also on the use of flame or a soudering launch of the "sweat" from the ends of planning. Any ideas? Thank Thanks!

should not be a problem is that, like plumbing pipes connect copper, by heating with a torch. You can also get heat, a simple Application that bending tool will bend without the hose. Copper is very soft ..

Where can I Basic tool kit quality to begin a silver jewelry at home?

I would like to begin, silver jewelry at home. I understand I will have a selection of pliers, a blowtorch, etc. but where do I need to see a good quality, but cheap kit (perhaps online)? I'm living in Barcelona ... Thank you! I want to begin to silver jewelry at home. I understand I will have a selection of pliers, a blow torch, etc. need saw but where can I buy a good quality but inexpensive kit (perhaps online)? I live in Barcelona ... Thank you! PS I only speak Spanish for beginners and a piece of jewelry, of course, there would be impossibe. I have also received training in art & craft up to degree level, so confident, I can jewellrey master design at home without the help of a course ... hopefully ...

Do you already have a background in jewelry manufacturing? If not, then I would recommend a basic course first of all this you should have a taste of different techniques and tools you need, for they can get. That's what I did. Standard Tools as basic pliers, brake calipers, the saw, plastic Hamers, rulers, sandpaper, files, jewelry polishing tools, etc. can all be cuters standard by bought retail stores. Note Specialized tools such as ring gauges, Silver Lot (note this is not the silver-Lot stores sold in hardware), heat-resistant tongs, ladles casting, Molding sand, shaped wire bending pliers may, by shops, jewelry manufacturers are purchased just. If you are in a course you should be able to such contracts by your Teachers agree. He will also be able to give advice. You also need to get you there in silver. Another source of silver is that you local silver smith. That is, if one part is prepared to work with him. I have just seen that it is a gem show in Barcelona at the end of the year. You could go there and speak, and silversmiths they ask for tools and material local sources: http://www.biztradeshows.com/trade-events/barcelona-jewellery-fair.html Edit: to respond to your supplements: I 'm sure you can find a course in Barcelona in Spain itself. It is likely to point to the leaflets. With your background you should be able to jewelry design, but I think that is a basic course to learn to be useful, and in fact, use silver and socializing. A tip: you can work with brass, the Techniques before using silver practices. Brass is much easier to find. By the way, what kind of jewelry do you like? Your toolset on that depending.

Kit Bikes – Bike in a Box – Who knows this?

I always wanted to own a road bike - not necessarily a chopper, but something that is relatively easy ride, with a bit of "Bad Boy" on the opportunity save some money by buying a bicycle thrown kit or bike in a box "seems good, but I have a few questions: What are the best kits? What about motors and Transmissions? Where can I find information about building a bike? I have to build the tools and skills (including welding and metal processing) at all so that is not relevant. What I seek is an ambitious project will be to drive the fun is. Also how difficult it is to get Indian John or bike registered in California, Texas, Oregon? Thanks. Are Panhead, Knuck reproductions and Rev-Tec engines? Or kits? Do you know where to get more information?

If you Panheads Knuck or reproductions that they are good bikes, as long as you stay away from Rev-Tec, but not so sure save money Imagine your door, they then push $ 20K You start building the best is in them is their all because you do not have to go through them all Hs 2.1 acres collecting parts to Reg No problem, I have made three togeather and really dont care to do to another.

Used Welding Equipment – Different Methods Where it is Being Used

Welding gear is famous for numerous materials in any industry. Specifically, it is utilized for the so-called combination processes like arc, resistance, laser, electron beam, stud and orbital welding. Among a list of procedures provided by used welding equipment are wave soldering and a range of brazing practices.

Welding device may operate through the aid of a welding power source. Weld controllers are also needed in order to help the methods offered by these tools. Luckily, there are also comprehensive systems with a surface or cutting machine, torch, feeders, cables, robots, positioners and feeders. Below is an explanation of arc welding purposes provided by used welding equipment.

Arc welding methods and welding equipment

Arc welding is a more general categorization for two welding forms like MIG and TIG. MIG welding stands for Metal Inert Gas Welding. Another acronym for this process is MAG or metal active gas welding. This is regarded as one of the extremely famous arc welding methods because of its flexibility. It makes use of various kinds of gas to complete the method. Several of the most general examples of these gases are pure carbon dioxide and argon gas or a blend of both.

Both latest and used welding equipment serves another welding process – the TIG. TIG stands for Tungsten Inert Gas. The procedure took its label from the actuality that tungsten is utilized when shaping an arc in between the item and the electrode. As for the inert gas portion, argon is being used. When compared to MIG Welding, this one is slower and is generally more expensive.

Arc welding has other methods included in its list. The likes of flux cored arc welding, gas metal arc welding and resistance seam welding are integrated. Other forms are spot and shielded metal arc welding.

More welding procedures served by these devices

Frictional welding adds to a list of uses served by any welding equipment. Examples are hot plate welding, plastic welding, electron beam welding and Oxyfuel welding.

Despite the diversities in these procedures, all have one thing in common. This is the essence of finding for used welding equipment that stop rust, serve varying actions and render water cooling uses. Of course a heavy-duty equipment that has engine driven generators is highly qualified to fulfill these methods.

Welding of Carbon Steel Pipe Stainless Steel Pipe

The standard welding processes such as TIG, MIG and stick can be used to weld steel pipe stainless steel pipe. Standard C-Class E-7018 welding electrodes such as E70, and can be used for the stick and MIG welding and used. But with such welding electrodes in this type of welding, the welding quality can be affected, be due to a lack of chromium and nickel in the alloy. It is therefore important, high-carbon stainless steel electrodes Use to have a strong weld between the steel and stainless steel pipes. In particular, type 309 welding electrodes, the right composition ensures proper With the correct weld penetration and structural integrity. You also need the following steps are used in this type of welding:

Step 1: will set the spool or MIG welding machine with the Type 309 wire after removing preloaded welding wire used for other tasks.

Step 2: Replace The gas with the three-part shielding gas mixture. It is necessary to thoroughly the gas before the gas cylinder on the MIG welder mix. The method used is the gas cylinder roll on the ground horizontally place it back and forth to the gas mix thoroughly. This update of the three-cylinder gas gauges.

Step 2: Now on the MIG Welders and turn the switch right heat and wire-speed levels. It is important to note that the standard heat settings (for carbon steel is used) is not appropriate for welding of stainless steel increased amount of heat required to weld on stainless steel. Best advice is to keep your sweat-Guide, see the to verify the first test setting for your heat and wire speed. Once you see to adjust the heat levels to carry out a test pass with the welder, that the settings are correct.

Step 3: Cut a piece of pipe made of stainless steel and a piece of steel pipe with required lengths with a band saw. It is important to note that when cutting stainless steel with a bandsaw to reduce the speed while keeping the use of blade coolant cool.

Step 4: You must have 20 degree chamfer at the end of the cut pieces of pipe. This is done with a grinder, adding it at a constant 20 degrees, to give you an even fill level. Make sure you do not touch on the grinding tubes, because the pipe is very hot during the grinding.

Step 5: Once the tube edges are properly grounded to place a beveled end of the steel pipe against the beveled end of the stainless steel pipe welding allows a gap of 1/16th a Inches between the two pipe pieces. Then create a turning point in the weld to hold the pipes together. Similarly, the pipes and turn a roll at one inch intervals around the entire Circumference of the pipe. It lies on necessary to weld 1/16th inch gap to get right up to the scope.

Step 6: Now start the welding Pipes together. Start the weld from the pipe of stainless steel and gradually pull the puddles on the carbon steel. In addition, roll the MIG gun in a circle around the generate a good flow weld puddle while the lower part of the weld to ensure that to make proper penetration. During welding, if you note that the carbon tube is in cutting, it is necessary to reduce the heat to the MIG welder and I repeat it.

What is the Importance of Non- Destructive Testing?

It’s not conceivable for an industry to run for any protracted length of time without carrying out non-destructive testing (NDT) periodically. This applies to the Automotive Industry, the Aerospace, the Nuclear, Petrochemical, Paper and Pharmaceutical Industry. The reason is fairly simple. Every component from the largest of turbines to the smallest of pins or washers is manufactured for a certain environment. This environment can be stress and temperature or stress and corrosion or it can be fatigue where time is also an element that may cause a failure.

This brings in the concept of not only the environment, but also the life cycle of the component in question. Within the life cycle of the component, therefore, it has to be periodically tested to reaffirm its fitness to last the remainder of its life cycle prior to replacement. This testing has to be non-destructive in nature to ensure that the industry continues to run without any interruption. Two of the important forms of NDT are magnetic testing and ultrasonic testing.

Magnetic testing methods are used for the examination of welds and turbine blades, pipelines and certain engine components as well as structures. Some of the equipments used are the Portable Yoke, the Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM), the Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) and the advanced version of magnetic testing the Magnetic Flux Leakage Inline Tool (MFL-ILI). The MFL is used for the detection of pitting or corrosion in steel pipelines. The equipment employs a powerful magnetic field that magnetizes the pipeline. The areas that do not have flux lines are analyzed to indicate cracks or metal loss. In the MFL-ILI, the tool actually travels inside the pipeline both cleaning and collecting the data regarding the integrity of the pipe walls.

Ultrasonic Testing techniques can be used for assessing the thickness and corrosion. Equipment for ultrasonic testing can be in the form of Tank Crawlers or Near Drum Scanners. In the Electromagnetic Acoustic Transmission (EMAT) method, an ultrasonic wave is radiated within the sample. The reflected wave is analyzed as well as interpreted to evaluate the sample’s internal structure. This technique may be used to assess thickness or cracks.

Damascus Steel – the High Tech Weapon of the 12th Century

Damascus Steel is a broad category of metallurgical techniques used to make higher technology knives and sword blades in the 12th through 18th centuries.  Prior to the Bessemer process which allows steel to be made in large quantities with exact control over the amount of carbon in the mix, steel was made in an artisanal method – it was made in small batches, and making a batch large enough to make a sword was a technical challenge.

Steel is iron with carbon impurities; the best time to mix in the carbon impurities is when the steel is hot.  The archetypal image of a blacksmith striking sparks from a red hot steel blade that we see in movies and popular culture stems from needing to distribute the carbon (from coke or charcoal) through the blade.  You’d hammer the steel while it’s glowing hot, turn the blade over, hammer it again, and reheat.  The aim of doing this was to make sure that the carbon granules were broken to the right size in the alloy.   (Modern steel making allows much greater precision than merely hammering the nodules out).  The more carbon there is in the steel, the harder it is, and the more rigid the steel is.

Damascus steel, in spite of the mythologies that have built up around it, was simply a technique of taking high carbon steel ingots (usually “wootz” steel imported from India), hammering or drawing them flat, and then putting a layer of charcoal over them, then a layer of higher nickel alloy steel over it (nickel keeps steel flexible), then hammering them together, often times trying to fold the steel back so that there’s a pattern of high carbon steel (providing rigidity) and softer nickel steel (maintaining flexibility and the softness needed to sharpen the weapon with period tools).

Damascus steel shows a distinctive pattern – the high carbon steel is darker than the nickel steel, and there’s a pattern of cells that can look almost like snakeskin or running water through the blade, as the hot blade is quenches in pickling brine.  (This brine will tarnish the high carbon steel before the nickel steel).  Similar patterns can be found in pattern-welded steel swords from Northern Europe and the “folded steel” swords of the Japanese, both of which have been mythologized (as has Damascus steel) into weapons that can cut rock, bodies and machine gun barrels.

Damascus steel fell out of fashion for two reasons.  The first is that it’s incredibly labor intensive to make, and the second was that with the Bessemer process, modern steelmaking allowed for comparable steels at a fraction of the cost.  Indeed, the leaf springs in a typical automobile or light truck can be ground down to make better swords than ever existed in antiquity in terms of quality and ability to hold an edge.
